North Island Magic - Auckland > Rotorua

It was a mad dash to the north island Magic bus which actually stopped farther up Lorne street at a different backpackers. All aboard, the bus first took us up to the top of mount Eden before leaving town for some fantastic morning views of the CBD skyline and Eden Park.

Our dirver, Carl, then took us southeast accross the Hauraki Plains. We continued to our first stop of Paeroa, where we posed in front of the giant L&P bottle.

"World Famous in New Zealand"

The next cultural stop was equally exciting - Matamata, aka Hobbiton, where some of the original village sets from the Lord of the Rings can be toured.

After a very brief stop at an adventure park, Carl was keen to get us into Rotorua and settled as soon as possible (we liked this efficiency already!). Unfortunately many individual passengers had extra requests that got us in rather late with little time left to see town . . .
