Singapore Zoo and Night Safari

I’ve never known how to feel about zoos because of how the animals are caged up and it goes against nature and everything. At Singapore Zoo, even though the animals are still technically caged, there is definitely more of a safari park feel to it. You walk around the park with the animals right beside the path you’re walking on - seemingly without fences at all. In fact, there are almost invisible electric fences, very low to the ground so the animals don’t step onto the people-path. A great idea and really allows you to get up, close and personal to so many animals. We loved this.

We saw many incredible animals and the majority of them had a lot more space than I would have expected for a zoo. Chris and I were both impressed by how healthy and playful the animals were - obviously very happy, we deduced!

We saw White Tigers, Hippos, Giraffes, loads of monkey varieties including our favourite… lots of baboons!

One of our favourite things was the Night Safari where you are taken round in electric cars to see the nocturnal animals and the daytime animals (what is the opposite of nocturnal??!!) going about their evening activities. We got to get off and explore different parts such as the leopard enclosures. It was great and if I were a child I think this would be the biggest adventure for me ever - seeing all these animals while wandering around in the dark, how exciting!

A thoroughly enjoyable day out and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Singapore even if you are anti-zoos.
